Blue Marble Acres is a regenerative agricultural site that promotes small-scale farmer-led land stewardship in Marin County, California. With support from the George Gund Foundation they have installed one of our first containerized dual PP30 Microgrid systems. Development of this system has also been supported by Cal Fire grants with the goal of building pilot infrastructure to help incentivize and monetize Cal Fire’s forest and wildfire mitigation. The ongoing drought and other climate changes affecting the vast woodlands across California have resulted in unprecedented fire danger. The need to thin trees to maintain healthy forests as well as removing dead and dying trees impacted by changing ecosystems has been beyond the capability of historic Cal Fire infrastructure. However, the value of the heat and power that our gasifier gensets add to Blue Marble’s agricultural operations can demonstrate a virtuous cycle where these energy offsets can support these forest maintenance efforts at the same time that they reduce the carbon footprint of not only the farming operations, but the forest waste disposal as well, all while creating biochar to improve their soil healt
